'''The Bootshaus beer garden is located near the Isar and close to the zoo in the Thalkirchen, a city district of central Munich. Since about 50 years the beer garden is open to the public. The main house, built in building which dates back to 1951, functions as the association restaurant and meeting place venue for the NaturFreunde (Nature FriendsAssociation). The NaturFreunde is an international association organisation with members in 40 countries with the aim to protect and preserve the nature.'''
The Bootshaus is quite unknown in Munich. The beer garden is not mentioned in any guides and gives a very inconspicuous impression from the street. No big signs or brewery advertisement lead new guests to this idyllic family beer garden. The district chairman Oliver Schimmel states, that the beer garden lives through mouth propaganda. The small kitchen is not capable to cater guests fast at high rush and therefore wants to keep the business low. Already now on sunny days the beer garden is packed with families, which very often even unfold their picnic blankets on the large meadow due to lack of seats. The beer garden is entirely enclosed and has only one entrance/exit. Parents can let their kids run around and explore the large property.

The beer garden has about 250 seats on normal tables and traditional beer benches. There is no serviced area and guests are welcome to bring their own food. Bootshaus offers beside quick snacks such as Currywurst and french fries also traditional beer garden meals such as Obadza and Wurstsalat (sausage salad). Coffee and homemade cakes are also available. The food prices are family friendly and even a Helles (lager) from [[Hacker Pschorr]] costs only 5,80 p/[[Maß]].

The beer garden is open from May to October when the weather is good from 11am to 10pm.

The district chairman Oliver Schimmel says, "the beer garden in known to visitors mainly through word-of-mouth. The small kitchen is is not equipped to cater to too many guests at the same time. Already now on sunny days the beer garden is packed with families, who often unfold their picnic blankets on the large meadow due to lack of seats". The beer garden is entirely enclosed within a fenced area and with only one entrance/exit parents can let their kids run around and explore the large property.
