Klostergasthof Andechs is located up a hill about 45 minutes by foot from Herrsching on Ammersee. On clear days one can enjoy panoramic views of the foothills of the Alps. Please note that Klostergasthof Andechs is a “Wirtsgarten” which does not include a self-service area. The “real” beer garden is located across the road and is referred to on this site as Kloster Andechs Biergarten.

Andechs is a popular weekend destination by people from and around Munich, so the beer garden can get quite busy on weekends. The beer garden does not have the typical beer benches but elegant garden furniture shaded by large chestnut trees. There are regular music festivals at this beer garden and the grave of the composer Carl Orff is located by the monastery.
