Der Kongress Garten is located at a former exibition centre in Munich. The adjoining restaurant and beer hall once served as a canteen for the exibition centre. The beer garden originally opened in 2007 under the name of Die Alte Messe, which was changed to Der Kongress Garten following a change of ownership 2010.

The main entrance to the beer garden is behind the famous Bavaria statue overlooking the Wiesn where the Oktoberfest takes place.
