The Maisinger Seehof beer garden is located directly at the Maisinger See, just 5km west of Starnberger See and about 32km from the city centre of Munich. In 1680 the Maisinger See was built by monks to provide fish for the starving population of the time. Over the years fish farming no longer became a priority and the lake became a biotope moor with many endemic birds.

At the time of the lake construction a small pond house was also built. The house was rebuilt in 1899, using some of the original structure. After the second World War the Maising area and its lake became popular a holiday destination and the owner of the house began to sell food and beverages to visiting tourists as an additional income and in 1950 a beer garden license was obtained. Following several leaseholder changes, the current and 3rd generation of land owners resumed management of the restaurant and beer garden in 2001.

The beer garden has 450 seats in the self-serviced area located on the embankment of the lake with views over the sea, of which about half are shaded by large trees.

The self-service food stall offers traditional Bavarian snacks and meals with about seven main courses including vegetarian meals. All meals are prepared with biologically grown ingredients from the surrounding farmlands. Various oven fresh cakes are baked after an original recipes passed on through generations. The beer served is Herrnbräu and a Maß Helles (lager) costs €5.60. All soft drinks come from Kelterei Perger - a biological juice maker close to the Ammersee.

The beer garden is open from April to end of October, between Tuesday and Sunday from 10am until the last guest left.
