Using the wide image method is recommened when displaying images wider than 600 pixels, since it prevents them from stretching beyond individual browser's natural widths that would default viewports and otherwise force cause subsequent text-paragraphs to require sideways scrolling <!--of the entire browser window when displayed --> on narrow screens screen devices of various hand-held devices and small netbooksand iPhones etc.
