The name Schlossallee (castle alley) refers to the huge, ancient chestnut trees, which once formed an alley leading up to the castle. Today there is , the castle no castle anymore, longer exists and the last remains of the former grand building were removed in 1998. Small ponds and rare, old plants on the adjoining premises next to the beer garden are reminders of the former castle garden. There is also an old brewhouse, built in 1784, where the legendary Jägerbräu beer was brewed on location for several centuries.
The existence of the beer garden was first documented in 1926. After several leaseholder changes, the beer garden as well as the castle, castle garden and brewhouse were sold to count Count Guy von Moy. Years later, the Hofmaier family bought the Schlossallee and reopened the beer garden after careful extensive renovation and modernisation.
The beer garden has about 3,000 seats under centuries-old chestnut trees. Most tables are fixed to the ground. The various different food stalls are all managed by individual shops in shop owners from the village. There is a Kaffee-Hütt'n (coffee hut), Steak- and Würstlhütt'n (steak and sausages from the local butcher) and the Backhaus Weiß (the local bakery). Another food stall offers fresh [[Steckerlfisch]] (grilled fish on a stick). The beer served beer is [[Hofbräuhaus Freising]] and a an Urhell (lager) costs €6.00a [[Maß]]. <!-- may 2011 --> The Jäger naturtrüb (naturally cloudy lager) is served in a stone mug and also costs €6.00a Maß. <!-- may 2011 --> The Weißbier (wheat beer) comes from [[Huber Weisse]].
The Chinese lantern festival attracts each summer thousands of guests. Each guests guest gets a Chinese lantern to put on the table and at nightfall thousands of Chinese lanterns shine in the beer garden. Various music bands perform on a small stage in the beer garden on a regular basis. A highlight for kids is the large playground with an electric railway to ride on<!-- Ampertal-Kindereisenbahn -->.
